Interference

Interference is a topic to be handled from two perspectives; first as the recipient and then as the supplier.

As an entrepreneur, when you set out on any venture obstacles are to be expected. From barriers to entering the market to stiff competition from well-established competitors, any and every entrepreneur will, and should expect to encounter obstacles along the way. However, what is seldom expected is interference.

Sometimes subtle, other times blatant, interference can be enough to cripple an entrepreneur's drive, but it doesn't have to be. Think about it, who interferes with someone/something that is deemed to pose no threat? The mere fact that you are seen as a threat means that you're on the right track. Your ideas and the way you carry them out are uniquely yours, and the very fact that only you can do it like you is what intimidates your competition. So, when interference comes, adjust as you must, but don't allow it to prevent you from doing the good you have set out to do.

On the other hand, if you're thinking of running interference, don't. You know what it took to take your dreams from vision to reality, and how hard you've had to strive, in most cases, without interference to achieve the milestones you have; allow another the opportunity to do the same. If that in and of itself isn't reason enough, then consider this, the time and effort you spend plotting and running interference is time lost from legitimate efforts towards improving your own brand, offerings, and services. If you really want to be #1 do so because your brand merits it, not because you interfered in the success of someone else. When you focus on improving your brand rather than ruining someone else's, not only will your integrity be intact, but your conscience will be too.
